Born 1992 in Norfolk, Selina works from a studio at her residence in the Norfolk countryside. Skullpturas is the face of her internationally exhibited artwork, combining her scientific background and artistic creativity. She fuses natural elements and precious metals, to focus on the juxtaposition of the subject’s mortality and fragility to the revered eternal nature of precious metals. She looks to explore the relationship we have with mortality and the natural world.
All her work is created by hand, using pure precious metals and real preserved insects, with a technique she has originated through years of experimentation. She is the only artist in the world to possess her secrets to the burnished gilding of invertebrates.
All natural elements of Skullpturas pieces are sourced responsibly and sustainably, supporting small independent suppliers.
