This beginner’s class will introduce you to the fascinating and intricate world of entomology – the art of insect preservation. Students will learn all the basics on how to re-hydrate and relax specimens, including how to construct their own relaxing chamber at home. Then learn handling techniques, follow along step-by-step to spread and mount their specimen. All stages will be guided and students can as ask many questions as needed.
We will also discuss how to pose, display and maintain your piece to ensure a lasting artwork you can be proud of.
Students take home their own prepared insect, a spreading board that can be used for future projects and the knowledge to create their own pieces in the future.
Classes last 1-2 hours, held as an evening class with a maximum of 6 students.

Blending science and contemporary art, Selina has over five years of experience pinning insects, three of which have consisted of teaching online courses via her Patreon. She has exhibited her insect art both domestically and abroad, with collectors worldwide ranging from interior designers and collectors to everyday naturalists.
Selina combines her scientific background and artistic creativity to focus on insect mortality and fragility to the revered eternal nature of precious metals. She looks to explore the relationship we have with mortality in the natural world.

I also offer one to one’s, occasion, and tailor-made classes, such as birthdays, hen doo’s, family outings, surprise parties and corporate team building days.
