Morpho deidamia is a Neotropical butterfly found in Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Suriname, Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Brazil. These butterflies do not rely on a pigment for their colouration but in a structure of the wing scales unique to this butterfly family. The scales refract light, much in the same away diamonds do. This results in an incredible and surreal iridescence and depth of colour.
